The Skylands at Randolph

Had my wedding done there, let me tell you. The food was ok, but the service!!! I had never received such a bad service for the money. When we were signing the contract, sales person Irene assured us that they could make almost any cake design at no charge, as long as it's not something too fancy. However Irene was no longer working there a month or so before the event. That's when things started getting a bit out of line. We were informed that a simple cake design that we picked, with a bunch of scwigle lines on it will cost us $300 extra, because aperantly after signing the contract, the only 2 or 3 cake designs that they show you in the pictures are included, if you want a bit different design that cost EXTRA. Second, they messed up the colors of cocktail hour table linens. Instead of heavy blue as we agried, they put down white once..... Third, every one got id'd at the bar..... Even people who were well over 35, they were not releasing more than one drink to one person. Most of the people got id'd several times( when the party had a total of 14 people who were under age out of 126 where half of the, were under 12 and the oldest of them was 16..... So it was a very visible difference between the rest of the guests.) when people were getting drinks they were not serving straight shots, and were using DIRTY ice from the same cooler where they kept all the beer and the rest of the alcohol. Also, about five munites after the cocktail hour begun they ran out of champaign. I, the groom had to wait for about 25 min for bartender to get me the drink I ordered. The bartenders were so slow, I had a feeling they were about to pass out. And they were very rude to all of our guests, they were giving out a Smirnoff vodka with ice for an order of " dirty martini". When we addressed the management (Roy Evon) about the problems, he did not do anything, I had a filling they were doing it on purpose so they serve less drinks. Another thing is that, we paid for "sky" vodka, and got served Smirnoff. We paid for a second bartender so they could keep up with the party, but for such a small party we always had about 15-20 people waiting in line.... And then after talking to Roy several times about the problems atbthe bar they denied us of "bottle service" we had in our contract. By about 11:30pm the staff collected all of our guest favors, which were Godiva chocolate bars, later we incquered about that and Roy said that our guests took them, when most of the guests sayd that staff took the chocolates. I am very disappointed, and regret that we celebrated our wedding there, before the wedding and at the food tasting everything was comletely different, no dirty ice in your drink, if you want a straight shot there was no problem, they did not run out of champing, bartenders were quick and nice, they were not telling you that Smirnoff vodka with ice= martini.......... Never go there again, and would not suggest any one. :(

The place itself, Irene (Sales Manager), food, cake, layout, service.....everything was over the top!! I loved it, food was extremely good and sooo was the cake!!! They made sure everyone was well attended. I loved that place!!! :) Definitely will end up making all my activities there!! :) Wedding was a dream and a bog part of it was thanks to them!! :)

The Skylands had great food and a beautiful atmosphere. Our wedding night was perfect. I only wish they had communicated a little better as it would have saved me money. They actually offered more than I thought I would get (for example an arch for the ceremony) and I used outside resources which charged me. However, my overall experience was great. Our guests had nothing but praise about the place, the food, and the service.

The food is out of this world!!!So if the food is a big deal for you--i strongly recommend them! Our wedding consultant Roy was wonderful! My only wish would have been for him to be there the night of my wedding--another associate was there that we had never met before --so some of the small details got lost in the mix.--But--the place is beautiful--the wait staff were incredible-they made sure that I had something to eat--cause as the bride you tend to be running around to much--so I thought that was a special touch---and again the food was incredible.

Hands down the best place for a wedding! Everything was perfect! All the staff were so wonderful and Julie was amazing! Julie was such a wonderful help just made sure everything went perfect for us and it did I want to thank her so much for making our day so beautiful and we have the best memories of our special day! Food all guests said was the best wedding food they ever have had and cake, decorations all done in house and was perfect! My husband and I would like to thank everyone at The Skylands at Randolph for making our day so special!!!!! Jessica & Chris Wilkie

not flexible, but beautiful venue

Gene was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He accomodated my sporatic visits to look at the site and show it to family and bridesmaids and always wore a smile. He was a wealth of information and helped me make decisions on parts that I was not sure of. His experience shone through at the rehearsal and during my ceremony. He is a true gem to work with. The location itself was truly gorgeous and the food was great. In addition the price was reasonable compared to other facilities we looked at.

The venue was a great place for a wedding without an unlimited budget. The food was wonderful and plentiful for the money. It held our 200 person party very easily. The staff was attentive and helpful.
